Public Library
I was going through a box of keepsakes and came across a stash of library cards from different cities I’ve lived in. I wanted to memorialize them in some way, and I had the idea to write a paragraph remembering each library. I have a lot of trepidation lately around writing, so I felt I had to approach this very casually, whistling and making nonthreatening eye contact. I also felt strongly that it couldn’t drag out; it had to be done in one sitting and not agonized over. My sweetie, Josh, a zine wizard, generously handled the layout and printing.
They’re not all public libraries. I don’t remember much about some of them. But it was fun to go back to these places and see what lurks in my memories of them.
I’d love to mail you a copy if you’d like one—drop me a note with your address. I also have a PDF version I can send if you prefer that. If you have a zine or pamphlet or scrawled page of words &or images that you’d like to share in return, I’d love to do an exchange.
