Hello! I hope this finds you well, however wellness feels for you these days. I’m writing to let you know of a couple of things.
First, on Saturday, June 4 I’ll be teaching a two-hour workshop, “Nature Writing in the Anthropocene,” as part of Lighthouse’s LitFest. We’ll look at a few texts and I plan to offer a couple of prompts, but for the most part I’d like for this to be guided by what participants are thinking about in terms of “nature” and “writing” in their current work. If you’re interested enough to want more information, you can head over here for the full description. It’ll be on Zoom; anyone anywhere can join, and financial assistance is available. If you know of someone you think might be interested, I’d really appreciate it if you share this with them!
Second, the Non-MFA is happening! Our website is mostly complete, and to test our payment processing system and kick things off, I’ve listed a couple of studios I’ll offer in September: “Building Resonant Structures” and “Creative Anxieties.” (I’m especially excited about this last one because it’ll be the first time I’ve explicitly brought my meditation experience into a creative workshop.) If you know someone you think might be interested in these classes—or in future Non-MFA offerings—please send them over to the website or to our Twitter, or to our newsletter. The plan is to offer a variety of affordable, eccentric, and practical classes on art and thriving as an artist.
We’re about to start inviting artists to propose studios, and those on offer starting in September will be posted by late July. I’m so excited that this is happening. And a little terrified. Here’s to terrified excitement.
I’ll be in touch again sometime around late July or early August. Meanwhile, I’d love to hear from you if you’d like to be in touch.
<3,
Evelyn
